About me

Hikaru

Hello, my name is Hikaru, a 28-year-old adventurer from Japan.

After graduating from university, I spent a year and a half working in an IT company before deciding to follow my wanderlust. I quit my job and embarked on a journey, starting with a working holiday visa in Spain.

With no prior experience, I took up freelancing, allowing me to travel while I work. This decision took me to over 40 different countries, each with its unique charm and culture. After Spain, I spent a year in Germany, again on a working holiday visa. I currently still work as a freelance English-Japanese translator in the Netherlands.

I am passionate about sharing my experiences and learnings from my travels.

Why "Penguins"?

Wondering why I chose the name “Penguins” for this blog? Well, that’s simply because I LOVE PENGUINS!!

Penguins have always fascinated me. Their charm, resilience, and adaptability align perfectly with the nomadic lifestyle. Plus, they never fail to bring a smile to my face with their comical antics.

During my South Africa trip last year, I captured some adorable penguin moments. Check out below and join me in exploring the world through their lens.
A standing penguin at Boulders Beach, Cape Town, South Africa.
